I began my life-long passion for exercise relatively early in life. Thanks for that goes to my father, an ardent exerciser, who set a good example for me.
As a child, I would often accompany him on his daily runs (I would ride my bike). Later, as a teen, he began taking me to a local gym and introduced me to the world of weightlifting.
That was it; I never looked back.
By my early 20’s, I had developed an appreciation and connection to the gym that has lasted to this day.
Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of engaging in various interests, including backcountry hiking and exploring, distance running, mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, skiing (snow and water), sailing, and many others.
Along the way, I also dabbled in numerous martial arts, including (listed alphabetically) Aikido, Armizare, Baguazhang, Escrima, Judo, Jui-Jitsu, Karate, Krav Maga, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Tai Chi, Wing Chun Kung Fu, and Xing Yi Quan.
Through both successes and failures, I’ve always enjoyed physical activity and the sense of peace, joy, and accomplishment that comes from it.
As a Personal Trainer, I've enjoyed spreading the information I've collected over the years. (Some of this knowledge I've learned the easy way -- a lot had to be learned the hard way!)
And still today, forty-some years since beginning my fitness journey, my desire to help others exercise better, safer, and smarter is as strong as ever.

One may ask: Are you some kind of master of these techniques?
Simple answer: Goodness, no!
I am not and will not pretend to be an authority regarding the ideas we will discuss here.
Nothing I have to offer is truly new. It all comes on the backs of those dedicated individuals and groups who spent lifetimes in the pursuit of what I can only hope to embody here.
My sincere goal is simply to express this material in a way that is easy to understand and put into practice.
That is why I am here. This is my purpose.
To explore this knowledge with you, to learn and grow, and support the search for a happy and healthy, centered and balanced, body and mind.
